Most MYP assessment is internal graded by a student's own teachers against IB criteria. But schools can also choose to offer MYP E-Assessment, an optional, externally graded on-screen exam session in the final year that lets students earn the formal, globally recognized IB MYP Certificate rather than just a school-issued record of completion.

Why Some Schools Choose E-Assessment

Teachers grade these portfolios internally before submitting them to the IBO for external moderation.
MYP Certificate vs Standard MYP Completion
- Standard MYP completion is based entirely on internal, teacher-assessed criteria grades across the programme.
- The IB MYP Certificate additionally requires E-Assessment components and meeting specific eligibility requirements set by the IBO.

Specific Requirements to Earn the IB MYP Certificate
Earning the formal IB MYP Certificate requires more than just sitting for the exams. Students must complete 8 specific E-Assessments and meet all of the following conditions:
- Score Threshold: Achieve a minimum total score of 28 out of 56 points across eight components.
- Minimum Grade Requirement: Earn a grade of at least 3 or higher (on the 1–7 scale) in every single E-Assessment component.
- Broad Subject Coverage: Complete E-Assessments across required subjects (Language & Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals & Societies, Mathematics, Sciences, and at least one from Arts, Design, or Physical & Health Education).
- Core Components: Successfully pass the Interdisciplinary On-Screen Examination and the MYP Personal Project, alongside fulfilling the school's Service as Action expectations.
IB MYP Course Results: Individual Subject Recognition
If a student participates in E-Assessments but does not meet the criteria for the full IB MYP Certificate or if a school only registers students for select subject exams, the IBO awards official IB MYP Course Results.
This official document lists every individual E-Assessment subject completed, along with the IB-validated grade 1 to7 achieved. It provides official, external proof of academic performance that students can submit to high schools, admissions boards, or international education systems when transferring institutions.
